- Regular full‑moon Poya days (Duruthu, Navam, Madin, Bak, Vesak, Poson, Esala, Nikini, Binara, Vap, Unduvap)
- Tamil Thai Pongal Day
- National Day: February 4
- Maha Shivaratri
- Sinhala & Tamil New Year: April 12–13
- Labour Day (May 1)
- Eid al‑Fitr & Eid al‑Adha - May 28 tentative
- Deepavali Day - November 8 tentative
- Milad‑un‑Nabi - August 26 tentative
- Christmas Day: December 25
Notes:
- Poya Days follow lunar cycles and may be adjusted by government notice; dates above match the 2026 Poya calendar. All Full Moon Poya Days are officially recognized and treated as statutory non-working days for the public sector, banks, and merchants
- Islamic holidays (Eid al‑Fitr, Eid al‑Adha, Islamic New Year, Milad‑un‑Nabi) are listed as “tentative” pending moon sightings.
- Good Friday, New Year, Labour Day, Christmas, Independence Day are fixed national holidays.
