How is Sick Leave managed in Armenia?
In Armenia, sick leave policies provide a framework for employees who are unable to work due to illness.
Minimum Sick Leave Entitlement
- There are no mandatory paid sick leave days. Employers are not required by law to provide paid sick leave.
Unpaid Sick Leave
- Employees can take up to 120 days of unpaid sick leave. After this period, the employer has the right to terminate the employment agreement if the employee is still unable to return to work.
Medical Certification
- A medical certificate is required if the employee is absent for more than 1 day. This document serves as proof of illness and validates the need for sick leave.
This system ensures that while there is flexibility for employees to take time off for health reasons, extended absences may lead to termination if they exceed the permitted 120-day period.
