Can employees be transferred from an entity or other EOR provider to Horizons?
Yes, employees can be transferred from an entity, another EOR provider, or a partner organization into Horizons. This is a common process for companies that want to consolidate their global workforce under one provider, improve compliance, or simplify operations.
At Horizons, we support clients through every step of the transfer to ensure a smooth, compliant transition, for both the company and the employee.
How It Works
The transfer process typically begins with a kickoff call to understand your goals and the countries involved. We’ll ask for some key information, such as:
A list of employees to be transferred
Their current employment arrangement
Applicable notice periods
Employee types (local, expatriate, freelance, fixed-term, etc.)
With this information, we review the legal and operational requirements in each country. This includes checking visa or work permit needs, onboarding capabilities, and any local employment laws that may impact the transfer.
You’ll also need to coordinate with your current EOR or legal entity. This usually involves agreeing on a transfer date and finalizing terms like:
The length of the notice period
Whether accrued paid time off can be carried over
If severance can be waived (where applicable)
Once that’s in place, Horizons prepares new employment contracts for the employees. It’s important that they sign their new contract before leaving their current employer. In some cases, a Mutual Termination & Transfer Agreement (MTTA) or tripartite agreement can be used to maintain continuity, helping preserve benefits like seniority and accrued leave.
After employees officially resign or are released, we complete onboarding into Horizons. From that point, our HR and payroll teams handle local support to ensure everything runs smoothly.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
Horizons preserves seniority and accrued benefits where local laws allow.
Legal and timeline requirements can vary by country.
Your Horizons representative will guide you throughout the process.
