Your public holidays are automatically added to the Remote Poeple by Horizons platform calendar based on your country and region of employment. These holidays are visible when you submit leave requests, helping you plan time off accurately and avoid conflicts with official non-working days.

Why Local Holidays Apply to You

Your employment is governed by the labor laws of the country and region where you are officially employed, not where your client company is located.


This means:

  • You observe the public holidays of your country and region of employment, even if your company follows a different calendar.
  • Your contract is aligned with local regulations, which include holidays set by national and regional authorities.


National vs. Regional Holidays

Public holidays can vary not only between countries but also within the same country.


Example:


If Horizons’ employing entity is registered in Madrid, but you live and work remotely from Valencia, you will follow Valencia’s public holiday calendar, not Madrid’s.


Why?

  • Most Horizons contracts list your home address as your official work location.
  • Public holidays are determined by the region where you perform your work, not by the client’s location or Horizons’ legal entity.
